Recent ActivityClass Announcements Welcome to SKIPThe SKIP to a Great Start Program has been in existence for 12 years in Genesee County at each of the 21 school districts. Stengthening families and school readiness are the main two goals. These goals are met through a variety of services: Playgroups, home visits, group meetings, developmental and health screenings, and fun fun fun! SKIP always has been, and will continue to be, a free program available for all families with children ages 0-5 years old. The program is now divided into two areas: 1. SKIP Family Wellness - this focuses on playgroups and home visits geared towards nutrition, health and literacy. 2. SKIP Parents as Teachers - this will focus on home visits with occasional playgroups all geared towards developmental stages, health and developmental screenings, parent support, and school readiness. Our region consists of the Lake Fenton, Fenton, Linden and Swartz Creek school districts. Playgroups will be held at all sites and regardless of your individual school district, you are welcome to attend any of the playgroup locations. Your Parents as Teachers contact is Peggy Matta, aka Miss Peggy. She will be handling all Parents as Teachers home visits and screenings in the region. She is being housed at the Lake Fenton West Shore Elementary SKIP portable unit, and will be in attendance at many playgroups to answer any questions.
